20 Most Powerful Video Game Weapons Ever

2. The Buster Sword (Final Fantasy VII)

Merica Saints Row Iv
Square Enix

A sword so big and so dense that only a specially engineered supersoldier like Cloud Strife could hold the thing up, let alone wield it, The Buster Sword is the single most powerful melee weapon in gaming history.

Sure Cloud tosses the thing about like it's made of cardboard, but that's only because Cloud is specifically built to be able to juggle double decker buses. The Buster Sword itself is somehow twice as heavy as it looks, designed to be able to slice through mechs and tanks if swung hard enough. Which, coincidentally, Cloud is able to do.

But of course, that isn't enough for Square. So the Buster Sword is able to take on monsters, robots, the very gods themselves, without so much as dulling under the strain. The Buster Sword hits harder, stronger, and in the hands of Cloud, faster than any other sword on this list, so there's no question about it being placed at the top above all the rest. So, of course, there's just one thing left to ask: What could possibly be left?
