20 Most Replayable Video Games Of The Decade (So Far)
6. Mark Of The Ninja
They said stealth couldn't be done in 2D, but that was before the outstanding talents over at Klei Entertainment got behind the wheel. The result was Mark of the Ninja, a side-on experience that animates with the fidelity and liquid-smooth look of a Cartoon Network original, yet one where your options are fleshed out enough to give Metal Gear and Splinter Cell a run for their money. All levels have a heady mix of shadows, hiding spots and various pathways to undertake, the results of which will net you different scores for either avoiding guards or taking them on. You can fight hand-to-hand but it's not recommended, instead you want to lay traps, bait enemies into accidentally firing on each other and then taking them down one by one, ratcheting up the fear, Batman: Arkham-style. Abilities unlock across gorgeously-animated cutscenes, eventually letting you blitz through levels or replay older ones for better scores with the knowledge of everything you learned. If the best stealth games imbue you with a sense of power as you watch and wait from the shadows, Mark of the Ninja makes you feel like you wrote the book on being a shuriken-flinging badass in the first place.
