20 Most Replayable Video Games Of The Decade (So Far)

15. Destiny

Okay, look, Destiny is the video game equivalent of a gambling machine; an exquisitely addictive core gameplay mechanic trotted out to supply the gullible with a 'game' that suckers them in for a few hundred hours, bleeds them dry and occasionally provides a substantial reward. It's less a game and more a platform that head vampiric overlords Activision can alter the numbers on whenever they want, and up until characterful expansion The Taken King in 2015, was more soulless than one of Shang Tsung's victims. Now it exists as a weird phenomenon, a quagmire of potential that hundreds of thousands of gamers are still funnelling time and effort into every day - yet without the grand narrative to genuinely make it seem worthwhile. Whichever way you look at it, Bungie's proficiency with first-person combat and Activision's oversight has created a monster - one I guarantee someone in the comments will justify the existence of... before lamenting the fact they just did. And if that's not addict behaviour, I don't know what is.
