20 PS2 Games That Prove It's The Best Console Ever

16. Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time

GTA: San Andreas Follow the train
Ubisoft

Being able to rewind time might just be the best game mechanic out there. Instead of dying, restarting at some godforsaken checkpoint, and repeating the process until you snap your controller in half, instead you get to sneakily warp yourself out of the bottomless pit, or patch up that fatal flesh wound as if nothing happened at all. Magic sand has never been so fun!

Following a price as he stumbles upon a time-altering artefact, he accidentally unleashes terrible consequences on his city, and vows to set things straight by fighting his way through to the bitter end and returning everything to its original state, utilising the dagger of time.

Made into a… questionable… film starring Jake Gyllenhaal in 2010, even that’s not enough to knock the shine off this blast from the past, sitting somewhere alongside the original Lara Croft games as an endlessly entertaining action game with some groundbreaking (at the time, at least) mechanics.

Considering just how long standing this entry into the franchise has been, sand really does get everywhere, doesn’t it?
