20 Ridiculously Low Game Ratings You Won’t Believe

12. Dragon Warrior VII: 78 (PS1)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SbDt0Xu5Ow Dragon Warrior VII (as it was titled back in the days before they called it Dragon Quest globally), was completely underrated when it debuted in the west. It's easy to see how it happened, as unfortunate as it was. Dragon Warrior VII told the story of the young hero of the game as he and his friends travel through time to prevent continents that existed in the past from being wiped out. It€™s an epic ride, and the only main Dragon Quest installment on the PS1 besides a remake of Dragon Quest IV. Truly, it was a huge, long game that provides many hours of gameplay. It more than makes up for it's old school visuals with a story that puts some of the other big RPG's of the era to shame. Unfortunately, it came out in the west in a post Final Fantasy IX world. Critics were judging all RPGs against the beautiful graphics of the FF series. Meanwhile, Dragon Quest was a pseudo 3D game. Some objects were 3D, but Japanese fans were insistent that the game be classically styled. Hence, many in the West just couldn€™t accept the game, panning it on its graphics for the most part.
