20 Ridiculously Low Game Ratings You Won’t Believe

11. Sonic Generations: 76(PS3) /77 (X360)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FU7yLpRMIJE Sonic Generations was a Sonic game that served two distinct purposes. The first was as the centerpiece of the 20th anniversary of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. The second was as an attempt by Sega to relaunch Sonic in a way that could redeem the franchise in the eyes of fans who had been burnt by a long series of Sonic games that were either decent, mediocre, or just downright awful. They did succeed at making a great celebratory anniversary title, as Sonic Generations had some memorable moments from previous Sonic games, and gameplay that didn€™t have any serious flaws (or even many minor ones for that matter). However, Sega never really went anywhere with the concept of a Sonic title that appeals to a nostalgic older audience after this game.Instead, they attempted to try and get kids back into the franchise with more mediocre titles on the Nintendo consoles. What was Metacritics problem with what is probably the best Sonic game we€™ve had in almost a decade? Essentially it was too short, and included modern levels from some of Sonic€™s seventh generation outings. These are rather unfair criticisms. Yes, it was very short, but it was also released at half the price of a typical game at the time. Likewise, criticizing an anniversary project for choosing to include content from the least liked parts of the franchise is quite unfair. Anniversary projects always include bits and pieces from the history of the franchise. let alone that fact that the levels in question were rather well done anyway.
