20 Severely Underrated 90s Video Games You Forgot You Loved

6. Cadillacs And Dinosaurs - Arcade

Not the first game in this list to have been crippled by an inscrutable title, Cadillacs and Dinosaurs is a side-scrolling beat-em-up made as a tie-in to a failed TV series of the same name, which in turn is based on the on the Xenozoic Tales comic book series (you'd be forgiven for never having heard of either of those). Despite the title, you spend most of your time on foot fighting typical 90s punky, campy video-game grunts. The dinosaurs are victims of hunters here, and as a result of their oppression have become aggressive towards anything in sight. That's right, apparently velociraptors were perfectly docile creatures before humans came along and began harvesting them. While it was by no means the first side-scrolling fighter of its day, Cadillacs and Dinosaurs surpassed the likes of Streets of Rage and Final Fight in terms of animations, weapon variety, and violence. It was surprisingly bloody for a game of its time, with satisfying splatters when you shot enemies, and the possibility of blowing them up into showers of lovely giblets.
