20 Severely Underrated PS1 Games You Totally Missed

2. Evil Zone

Evil Zone is a 3D, anime-style fighting game. Sure, that description may sound trite, but it€™s much more interesting - being it's presented like an actual anime. Each character has a special intro and outro theme, story cut-scenes with voice acting, and even next episode previews upon beating a stage's opponent. All of the different 90€˜s anime sterotypes are included, such as the rough tomboy, a magical girl, business suit pretty boy, and a knight in power armor (complete with oversized sword). The boss herself looks like she came straight out of Tenchi Muyo or El Hazard. The actual gameplay is pretty fun, and different from 3D fighting games like Tekken, Dead or Alive, or Soul Edge. You have buttons that activate a dash (which turns into a special move upon connecting), a projectile, and then your standard punches and kicks. In general, Evil Zone€™s an amusing, quirky, and unique fighter. Highly recommended, especially for anime fans who are very nostalgic for 90€˜s anime tropes!
