20 Severely Underrated PS1 Games You Totally Missed

1. Team Buddies

https://youtu.be/hG6U3Mqftwg Team Buddies is easily the best of the underrated games on PSX. It's also unique, not fitting into any one genre. Centring around the titular buddies - who are little bean people who live in peace on a colourful and Lego-esque planet - suddenly weapon-filled crates fall from the sky, and in no time they're turning the weapons on each other. In the beginning you take control of a faction of your choosing, including a team of Ninjas. When each level begins you start with one "buddy", from there gathering crates and delivering them to a stacking pad. Different amounts and configurations of boxes generate anything from more buddies (up to four at a time) to tanks and aircraft. Once your army is assembled, you can give them orders in real time to build, target enemies, or destroy buildings. Besides the story mode, it's the addictive local multiplayer that'll sink its hooks in deep. Team Buddies is a unique game that has elements or real-time strategy, action, and stealth. Despite the sort of odd appearance, it isn't a simplistic game. Sadly, it's also incredibly hard to acquire, and an NTSC or PAL copy will run you anywhere from $100 - $300 depending on the condition.
