20 Severely Underrated PS1 Games You Totally Missed

16. Star Gladiator

https://youtu.be/H7j1Fk_wxHc Star Gladiator was one of Capcom€™s first attempts at a polygonal 3D fighting game. Which is amazing, as Star Gladiator is a pretty phenomenal fighter. Sadly, it wound up being overshadowed by great PS1 fighters like Tekken and Soul Edge, as well as suffering from Capcom€™s terrible retail distribution in the days before digital storefronts got them back on track. The story of Star Gladiator is that in the far future, humanity has colonized space. The evil Dr. Bilstein has found a way to unlock a sixth sense called €œplasma power€ from humanity. However, he was imprisoned for the crime of human experimentation. He later breaks out and founds an army called the €œFourth Empire€; and begins to march towards Earth. The only ones who can stop him are other humans with the plasma power ability. The game itself is a well executed 3D weapons fighter. It€™s smooth visuals and great hit detection were some of the best on the console. The characters were nicely varied, with lightsaber wielding (it was intended to be a Star Wars fighter at first) humans to velociraptor mutants. Oddly enough, this game still hasn€™t made it€™s way to PS Store, but it€™s pretty inexpensive on the secondary market.
