20 Severely Underrated PS4 Games You Must Play

11. Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments

Like L.A. Noire, but thought the schizophrenic interrogation mechanics completely killed the immersion? You're not alone, and Frogwares' Sherlock Holmes is by and large the detective game we all wish had existed in the first place. Controlling Sherlock himself, the devs have a brilliant way of connoting the way his mind works in these sorts of scenarios, mostly through a couple of vision filters that'll highlight suspicious areas or clues, as well as potential reenactments of crimes you can deduce to fit the evidence at hand. There's even a mode ripped from the BBC adaptation, where you'll look over someone's clothing and various labels will pop up, denoting things like"Worker's hands", "Recently showered" etc. it's a very neat way of giving you the 'power' of Sherlock's abilities, without making them feel too forced. The best part comes when you want to point the finger at a suspect, as you'll dive into Sherlock's mind where all the clues and likely scenarios are laid out. You're free to simply link up his various synapses and thought patterns into a logical conclusion, with the game highlighting improbabilities and things that don't make sense along the way. You see his conclusions form in real time and are then free to pursue; if you're convinced someone is guilty, lead with that and convict them - every case has multiple endings and the option to reveal the 'real' result if you so wish. Sherlock's latest is the best detective game yet, and in such a sparse genre, is the one you owe it to yourself to check out.
