20 Things We Learned From Gamescom 2016
8. WWE 2K17 Might Reign In Some Old-School Smackdown Fans
Like many others, I lived and breathed the wrestling industry back during the Attitude days, so it's pretty awesome to see 2K17 aiming to recapture some of the features that made the respective Smackdown titles of the time so enjoyable.
To that end, 2K are bringing back the option to brawl backstage, with a ton of transitional animations letting you fling opponents through rooms and into random obstacles. Submission options have been tweaked to get away from the UFC-style 'chase your opponent's icon' and back into the button-bashing method we used to hold so dear, and that's before the likes of the huge roster and returning MyCareer custom story from 2K16 gets factored in.
2K's work as head of the annual WWE games hasn't quite reached the heights of Here Comes the Pain just yet - although 2K13 came mighty close - however with so many fan-requested tweaks and updates, that could all change very soon.
