20 Things We Learned From Gamescom 2016
7. Ghost Recon Wildlands Puts Customisation At The Front Of Replayability
Ghost Recon: Wildlands wasn't actually playable at Gamescom, but that didn't stop Ubi making a HUGE booth for it anyway. Inside, fans could queue and watch an 'exclusive' gameplay clip - which now appears to had made its way online.
Inside, Ubi are continuing their standard 'let's amalgamate all our other games into one' feel that tends to happen every year. So, you've got The Division's group-based dynamic and weapon customisation, Far Cry's open-world and outpost population, Ghost Recon: Future Soldier's controls - and all the experimentation that comes alongside.
That's the key word here though - 'customisation'. Ubi want you to design loadouts, character skins and infiltration options on the fly, coordinating with your friends to bring various perps in, however you like. It's almost Mercenaries-esque in how Wildlands looks to be handling your various targets, and if that means "Here's a huge world, go explore and bring them in however you can", that'll be alright by me.
