20 Things We Learned From Gamescom 2016

18. Prey 2017 Might Just Be The Next Bioshock

We were lucky enough to get eyes-on an extended gameplay clip of Prey, and there was one comparison that immediately came to mind - Bioshock.

From the brains n' braun approach to tackling enemies one minute and figuring out how to progress the next, to foreboding atmosphere of containment and the identical HUD elements that mimic 2K's weapon pick-up aesthetic, you can tell developers Arkane are filling in the slot left behind from the dissolution of Irrational Games.

The plot seems to centre around some sort of mass brainwashing setup surrounding who and where you are, but the really interesting stuff comes from the experimental signature feel of Dishonored that Arkane have brought across.

Various abilities can be combined to great effect, and now we've actually seen Prey in action, it appears to be distanced quite considerably from the 2006 original - at least, for now.
