20 Upcoming Games YOU NEED To Know About
9. Light of Motiram
Originally conceived of as an addition to Sony’s Horizon series, Polaris Quest’s Light of Motiram contains an undeniably Horizon-like world that nonetheless packs its own distinct playstyle and features.
The open-world survival game picks up its story on a futuro-primitive Earth where civilisation as we know it has been wiped out, “Mechanimal” tech beasts roam the land, and the terrains have returned to something of their former, pre-industrial age glory. Playing as a member of one of the remaining tribe of humans, we get to interact with this new world and collaborate to survive the beasts and the unpredictable forces of nature.
Light of Motiram drops us into a gaming world where everything has a use, with extensive crafting and base building mechanics, animals that can be caught, tamed and used to your advantage, and the ability to collect resources Minecraft-style by chopping down trees, catching fish, mining rocks - you name it. While at the very least it will provide a neat stop gap until the next Horizon game, it may well end up outdoing it.
The game is set to launch on PlayStation 5, iOS, PC and Android in 2026.
