20 Video Games Of This Generation You May Have Missed
1. The Evil Within 2 (2017)
PC: 80% | PS4: 76% | XBO: 82%
The list concludes with The Evil Within 2. Without revealing too much about how this game links back to its predecessor, the events of this title occur three years after that of the first game, and you are back with protagonist, Sebastian Castellanos. With that said, if you are going to jump into the second game without having played the first, expect the ending of the first game to be spoiled within the plot of the sequel.
As the name would imply, this game is a horror title. It incorporates a close third-person camera angle, a weapon crafting system, a stealth system, and a more open world (as opposed to a strictly linear one).
What all these features mean is that you have a game that blends elements from different genres to create an experience that works in some areas, and not so much in others. For example, by having an open world environment, the game allows for optional side-quests in a genre that is more traditionally linear and straight to the point, plot-wise.
In the end, experiencing the game for yourself will allow you to get a feel for the components that came through for you and the ones that are a bit lacklustre. Wherever you fall, The Evil Within 2 is a mature and ambitious game that has grown from the first release.
