20 WTF Moments From Resident Evil 7

4. The Overlong, Dull Ship Section

Resident Evil 7 Eveline
Capcom

The early consensus among many players seems to be that the game hits a bit of a brick wall in its later stages due to a brutally overlong, fairly tedious section on-board an abandoned ship.

Ethan gets encased in mold, so the player controls Mia as she watches an incredibly long VHS tape of herself (complete with a machine gun that makes the player feel way too empowered), before we return to the present and Mia has to spend way too long tracking down a fuse and cable for the ship's elevator.

It just goes on and on, making the game's final stretch feel like a bit of a slog all things considered, and it doesn't help that the locale just isn't very interesting to look at. Nothing but repetitive, samey-looking hallways.
