15. Mad Max

You might not know developers Avalanche by name, but you'll certainly have heard of their high-octane, vehicular explosion-filled Just Cause series; one that with the second instalment in particular cemented them as one of the most gifted developers around. However, JC2 was way back in 2010, and apart from the PC-only The Hunter they've been very quiet about what they've been working on - until now. 2015 marks the return of the phenomenal Just Cause series, but it also appears as though Avalanche have married their ridiculously fun sensibilities with that of the Mad Max universe, thereby creating One Of The Best Things Ever. Sadly it's not out until September (thereby missing out on all the positive press the movie has been receiving) but as gameplay footage and screens can attest, bombing about the wasteland in your own snarling behemoth of a muscle car (named the Magnum Opus) as you raid passing convoys and hop out for the occasional bout of melee combat looks suitably fantastic. Critics are moaning it's nothing revolutionary, but aside from the Nemesis system neither was Shadow of Mordor - and nobody expected that to be anywhere near as enjoyable as it was.
