25 Best Selling Video Games Of All Time - Ranked
12. Call of Duty: Black Ops
Sales: 26.2 million (#15)
Verdict: This is the game in which Treyarch took a step away from being the "B developer" of Call of Duty games and proved they could hang tight with Infinity Ward.
What really makes Black Ops stand out is the Cold War setting, which allows for a number of memorable campaign moments, specifically laying waste to enemies with a giant machine gun set to the Rolling Stones' classic tune Sympathy for the Devil, shooting "Fidel Castro" in the face, and of course, meeting JFK.
These iconic scenes give the game an easy leg-up over many CoD games both prior and since. Then there's the multiplayer, which features some of the series' best maps to date, including the debut of Nuketown and the superb Villa and Havana. It may not be super innovative, but as a visceral experience, it undeniably delivers.
