25 Best Selling Video Games Of All Time - Ranked
11. New Super Mario Bros.
Sales: 30.79 million (#9)
Verdict: Three years before Mario made his return to 2D gameplay on consoles, he did it on the DS, and the result was a thoroughly streamlined, superbly enjoyable handheld experience.
This is pretty much the perfect "pick up and play" game. Anyone can get the knack of the controls in seconds, and though the game is admittedly a little (or a lot) on the easy side, it's broached perfectly between being nostalgic for what came before and introducing new gameplay mechanics, namely three new power-ups to aid Mario's quest. It's a great way to bring 2D Mario back into the fold, even if it's a breeze for even the most casual platforming fan.
