18. Gears Of War II
The Gears of War series is well known for its over the top violence: when you are not riddling the Locust with gunfire from cover, you are cutting them to pieces with a chainsaw or exploding entire bodies into chunks of meat with your shotgun.
However, out of the four main entries in the series, it is Gears of War 2 that stands out as being the goriest, and it is for one reason: the giant worm. An entire level of the game takes place inside a giant worm after Marcus and crew get swallowed alive. In order to escape, you have to traverse the innards of the worm, cutting through organs and wading through lakes of blood.
It is by far one of the most epically bloody sequences in gaming history, and by the end you can practically taste the blood; thats how effective it is. All of the Gears of War games are gory, but the worm section of Gears of War 2 elevates that entry above the others.
