The long-awaited sequel to the much shorter but as equally impressive original (which came bundled as a sort of experimental freebee with Valve's Orange Box compilation), Portal 2 pretty much redefined how gamers think about puzzle games in this modern era. Featuring the voice talents of J.K. Simmons and Stephen Merchant, Portal 2 hones in on lab rat Chell as she attempts to escape the Aperture Science laboratory and her sardonic computer nemesis, GLaDOS, who will stop at nothing to prevent her from getting free. Somehow those geniuses over at Valve managed to create a relentlessly imaginative puzzle game that - lo and behold - embraced all the traditions of a proper narrative. Which, of course, had never been attempted on such a scale before. Not to mention, the game is insanely hilarious from start to finish. Not to be missed.
