17. Media Molecule's Dreams Promises A Uniquely Nonsensical Experience
Media Molecule returned to E3 this year with a new IP that feels absolutely like a spiritual successor to their LittleBigPlanet series. Dreams is all about exploring the dreams of others and building your own, using the PS4 controller to quickly create an array of objects and then manipulate them like puppets to create an animation. These movie-like sequences can then be joined to other dreams (reflecting the non-linear logic of dreaming), and you can even enter the dreams of other players and "remix" their creations. In terms of actual mechanics, the brief demonstration didn't show off much, but it made clear the sheer variety of projects you can build (from cute polar bear clips to sci-fi thrill-rides), and apparently more will be coming during Paris Games Week in late October.
