4 Reasons Why Batman: Arkham Origins May Fail

1. Its Change Of Developer/Writers

wbgames The other three entries on this list are purely speculative, as despite being a prequel with a new voice cast and a questionable release date, Arkham Origins could thrive on quality alone, as Rocksteady have more than established their credentials with the last two games in the series, right? But here€™s the kicker, Rocksteady aren€™t developing Arkham Origins. Instead, Time Warner (their parent company) have passed the responsibility onto WB Games Montreal, a Canadian subsidiary whose only work in the industry to date has been the underwhelming port of Arkham City released for the Wii U. This means that the entire creative team (including the writers €“ Corey May and Dooma Wendschuh have replaced established Animated Series scribe Paul Dini) has changed and teething problems could ensue as a result €“ evidenced by how many series have floundered after changing developers. When the next Batman film is inevitably released it will be ruthlessly (and perhaps unfairly) compared to the Nolan trilogy, regardless of its individual merit. The same will likely happen to Arkham Origins, whose new developers (who I€™m sure many are initially willing to give the benefit of the doubt) have a mammoth task to accomplish if they are to win over a fanbase who hold Arkham Asylum and Arkham City in very high regard, as they are not likely to tolerate a substandard release. Will Batman: Arkham Origins live up to the high standards of its predecessors or will it suffer under the burden of expectation? Discuss away in the comments section.
