Insomniac is currently going through some rough times lately; to me it just seems like the studio has completely forgotten what ingredients make their game so great. Fuse took itself far too seriously and the Ratchet has just been beaten to death. In other words, they need something new that embraces their strengths of quirky artsyle and wacky hilarious weapons. We only have a trailer to go on for Sunset Overdrive but it does look like a return to form. Its an open world experience where you kill mutants with zany weapons in a bright and colorful world. Thats every strength of an Insomniac game rolled into one right there. http://youtu.be/2_TXnUqMKR8
13. Tales From The Borderlands TBA (TBA)
When I think of the Borderlands franchise, a compelling narrative is the last thing that springs to my mind. The series has introduced us to some madcap and/or or slightly insane characters, but nothing that blew gamers minds. Its a perplexing decision for Telltale to get in bed with Gearbox for this reason but after The Walking Dead, its nigh impossible to feel that something Telltale is putting out wont be worthwhile. Telltale will really have to examine the franchise lore for stories that will translate to their dialogue choice given gameplay, but Im pretty confident theyll pull it off.
12. Game Of Thrones TBA (TBA)
Yes, Telltale is working on a fourth episodic series too but unlike Borderlands, anyone with the slightest drip of knowledge on this television show/series of novels is aware that it will absolutely be rife with thrilling narrative ideas. Choices are everything in a Telltale game, so when you consider how much backstabbing and interest pandering goes on between key characters, you have a recipe for something absurdly promising. Plus, there's a well-established bent for tragedy throughout George R. R. Martin's work, and after seeing what Telltale Games did with The Walking Dead, I'm sure they'll be right at home traumatising fans of another massive franchise.
11. The Order: 1886 TBA (PS4)
One of the most intriguing next generation titles is The Order; a grim and dark looking experience that pits King Arthur and his men with futuristic looking guns up against half-breed mutants. There are also 4 protagonists so it seems that the game might be undergoing development with co-op in mind. No gameplay footage exists yet but one reassuring aspect to go on is that Ready At Dawn has a very impressive development track record, with games such as God of War: Ghost of Sparta under their belt. The trailer also highlights that everything you see is being processed through the in-game engine, which looks insane. http://youtu.be/2FK8dgzW0o8
