41 Must Buy Video Games Of 2014

10. Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number €“ TBA (PS4, PC, Vita)

What happens when pretty much everything about Drive inspires a video game? Well, you get Hotline Miami; a top down story driven shooter that demands pitch perfect execution in every room of baddies, but also contains that dreamy neon styled atmosphere and synthesized music. There€™s also a jacket directly inspired from Drive! The other aspect that makes this series so awesome is just how violent and shocking it can be. I€™m looking forward to more keyboard smashing and stylized atmospheres.

9. Super Smash Brothers €“ TBA (Wii U, 3DS)

I€™m honestly unaware of a single person on the planet that doesn€™t enjoy pitting beloved Nintendo mascots against each other. It helps that the franchise has always taken a more casual approach to its fighting mechanics too, ensuring that anyone that loves a Nintendo character can jump in for some smashing and brawling. The real kicker here though is that if there€™s one game that can potentially save the Wii U from its undying existence as a $450 paperweight, it€™s this game.

8. Bayonetta 2 €“ TBA (Wii U)

Another impending release that can potentially alleviate the stigma of Nintendo€™s Wii U having jack squat to play on, is Bayonetta 2. The original is up there with Devil May Cry 3 as my favorite purist, technical combat driven hack and slash game. It€™s completely B-movie stupid and has no shame in its proposal that if you do really complex combos, Bayonetta will reveal her€ ahem€ assets. Hideki Kamiya €“ creator of both franchises €“ is returning for the sequel, so why wouldn€™t you get excited?
