5 Anticipated 2021 Video Games That Have Already Been Delayed

3. The Lord of the Rings: Gollum

Lord of the Rings: Gollum has been a head-scratcher since it was first announced back in 2019.

On the face of it, Gollum isn't exactly traditional protagonist material. The straggly-haired, ring-loving Hobbit isn't exactly the most heroic or powerful character in Tolkien's legendary fantasy series, and it's hard to imagine anyone who saw Andy Serkis' incredible portrayal of the character left the cinema thinking "Man, if only I could be Gollum!"

Even more puzzling is the choice of developer, as Daedalic Entertainment are best known for creating point 'n' click adventures in the vein of Monkey Island or Day of the Tentacle. While they may have experience creating unlikeable characters (Rufus, the lead of the Deoponia series, is one of gaming's most genuinely hateful heroes), it's hard to see how their point 'n' click expertise will translate to making a decent stealth-action adventure game.

Given that LotR: Gollum has been pushed back until 2022, it looks like it'll be a while before Daedalic figure out this particular conundrum.

Of course, Gollum isn't the only famous literary creation to have their game delayed into next year...
