5 Awesome Games That Deserve Sequels

2. Onimusha

I love watching documentaries on Japanese history, particularly revolving around the Samurai, making Onimusha an instant draw. With Onimusha, Capcom used the year 1560 in Japan where Nobunaga Oda was in the midst of battle and seemingly killed, but was in fact resurrected by demons! The story follows Samanosuke Akechi, a full fledge Samurai searching for Princess Yuki, who sent a letter pleading for help. As he tries to contend against the demonic foes, he fails and drifts into a world where he is bestow the power of the Oni, which gives him the ability to consume demonic souls to make him stronger. As you progress further, you learn the link between Nobunaga and the demons and why Princess Yuki has been kidnapped. The best way to describe Onimusha's gameplay mechanics by comparing it to Resident Evil, but with katanas. Katanas however will be the last weapon you'll be thinking of using, as the armaments Samanosuke would be using revolve around the gauntlet he uses to absorb his enemies souls, and which can also house orbs, each with their own unique priorities and weapon style. Though originally meant to only be a trilogy, there are other historical or fictional opportunities that could be explored like the downfall of the Oni, anything besides doing nothing would be a lot preferable.
