5 Brilliant Directors Who Should Helm Video Game Adaptations

2. Ridley Scott - Bioshock

Bioshock copy Cast: Jack - Tom Hardy Andrew Ryan - Daniel Day Lewis Atlas/Fontaine - Liam Neeson Sander Cohen - John Noble Tennenbaum - Tilda Swinton Even though I picked Ridley Scott, I'm still not sure he would be the most popular choice, especially after Prometheus. But think of how good an "Alien" inspired Bioshock movie would be. If Scott could nail the tone from his first sci-fi thriller, then Bioshock would not only be one of the best ever video game adaptations - it would be one of the best movies of all time. Tom Hardy would make an excellent protagonist as he would command a presence, while also retain some naivety. I can't think of anyone better than Liam Neeson, to play dual identity villain Frank Fontaine. Neeson has the range of accents needed to portray both Atlas and Fontaine. Daniel Day Lewis would be a dream choice for the egomaniac Andrew Ryan. Sander Cohen is easily one of the most disturbing villains in video game history which is why I would cast somebody completely original. John Noble excelled as the 'mad scientist' Walter Bishop in Fringe and I could see him producing an Oscar winning performance with a depraved portrayal of the crazy exhibitionist Sander Cohen. I know he's a lot older than Cohen, but that wouldn't really matter.
