5 Brilliant Ideas In Modern Games That Had Horrible Executions

2. Playstation Vita: Extraneous Vita Functions in a Number of Games

I recently received a Playstation Vita as a Christmas present and I love it. I could spend all day listing to you all the reasons I do, but there is an old lesson I wish developers creating games for the system would take to heart: just because you can, doesn€™t mean you should. The Vita has a number of neat functionalities, but that doesn€™t mean they automatically translate well into gameplay, yet developers keep trying to shoehorn these features into their games. For example, consider the ridiculous amount of touchscreen action in Uncharted: Golden Abyss. Some of those functions make sense, like when you€™re fighting hand-to-hand with a foe and have to swipe your finger upward on screen so that Drake can uppercut the dude into oblivion. But did we really, really need a charcoal rubbing game? http://youtu.be/xfxd0h_4SSA?t=4m42s This bit added nothing positive to my time with Uncharted:GA. In fact, it kind of detracted from the experience because sections like this are such blatant technology demos. I know what the machine does, guys, you don€™t have to constantly remind me. I€™ll leave you with another Vita functionality game in Assassin€™s Creed:Liberation that works oh so well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3M6ENDBK4mE
