5 Classic Video Games That Should Get iPad Release

3. Cannon Fodder

Sensible Software's best game that didn't involve a football. A top down war-shooter with an identical look to Sensible Soccer. You would be forgiven for thinking the players had walked off the football pitch and gone straight into war. In terms of controls, the iPad would be so easy, drag your finger through the woods and terrine and watch as your mini soldiers follow taking on all comers. The staff at Sensible Software were renowned for making simple and addictive games and Cannon Fodder was no different, with hundreds of creative levels and plenty of enemy surprises in the form of booby-traps and ambushes. A strange loyalty develops towards the pixilated fighters the further the game progresses, this makes it harder when some perish in the heat of battle - this is testament to the way Sensible Software engages the player into the game. Time to bring this one back.

2. Chase HQ

Driving games have come a long way since Chase HQ smashed onto the arcade scene in 1988, but in Taito's classic there still remains calls for its reemergence. The game has a simple premise, the gamer is a cop sent out in a sports car to chase down criminals in their cars as you dodge oncoming traffic. With the target in sight, the aim is to repeatedly smash into the enemy until their vehicle is a smoking write-off - all this while racing against the clock. The smashing nature of the game had fans coming back for more and was remade for a multitude of platforms that included NES, Amiga and Game Boy. Chase HQ's features still pop up today in side-missions for big next-gen games (most notably the GTA and Burnout series'). Combine the simple, slick style of this retro classic with a modern-day touch up and you would have an iPad classic on your hands.
