1. Dexter
Easily the most controversial on the list, some people may find the idea of playing a serial killer a little too offensive but hear me out.
Dexter and Telltale Games are a match made in heaven. The gameplay for a Dexter game is perfectly suited to the Telltale style, whether Dexter is surveying a crime scene or getting ready to plunge his knife. Action in the TV show comes in the form of scouting a victim, readying to pounce, subduing the victim and the odd fight scene. These kinds of scenes would be very suitable to a Telltale and
Dexter experience, the blend is perfect. A Dexter story would be very easy to develop, it could be a prequel to the television show or happen between series. Either way theres plenty of potential for more Dexter vs. serial killer stories. Again this would suit the episodic format, like the show. One huge bonus would be to get the shows actors to lend their voices to the game and make the experience as close to the show as possible. Obviously when we think of
Dexter we think of the TV show, set in sunny Miami, which doesnt necessarily suit the cell-shaded design of Telltale games but I think it could work regardless. Plus Im working under the assumption that all Telltale games must look like
The Walking Dead etc., this isnt the case, especially when moving into a new console cycle. Telltale could really up their game, (no pun intended), with new processing power and the more funding they will undoubtedly receive, due to success.
The prime timing for a
Dexter game is drawing very near. The final season of
Dexter has just began and will finish in August. The show has been a massive success and has a huge fan base, with a comic book and the original inspiration being books by Jeff Lindsay. So
Dexter is the kind of property that will be remembered for many years to come and so I imagine a game will always be welcomed by fans of the show. I truly believe a
Dexter game would be really fun and interesting. Playing as the friendly neighbourhood Bay Harbour Butcher obviously offers many moral/ ethical debates that would undoubtedly arise but whats so different about playing as him from watching or reading about his antics. Controversy aside, this is the title I believe best suited to the Telltale treatment. Sadly I dont see it happening but Id probably have said that about a
Mad Max game too, lets just hope it doesnt take 20 years.
These are just a few suggestions of possible games, I considered many others like Jaws, Halloween and The Simpsons but decided on the shorter list. What movies, TV shows, comics or books would you like to see Telltale take on next?
