5 Games Nintendo Needs to Resurrect for Wii U

3. Metroid

Face it, we were spoilt with the Wii. we didn€™t just get one Metroid game, we had two. With that in mind it's not much of a resurrection, it's more of a course correction. The latter Metroid game, €˜Other M€™ turned out to be a fairly disappointing affair, suffering from some terrible dialogue, awkward controls and an absence of feeling truly isolated, something that made the other Metroid titles so special. Personally though, I loved the Metroid Prime series. Retro studios managed to do a superb job of updating the Metroid for a first person perspective. While they weren€™t perfect, all the Prime games were incredibly enjoyable and looked stunning for the time. For a Wii U iteration I really just wan€™t more: bigger, more varied environments rendered in gorgeous high definition. The awkward visor switching system found on the Wii version could be moved down to the Wii U Gamepad to make switching between them on the fly a breeze. You could also move traditional Metroid elements such as your mini-map screen and ammo count to the Wii U Gamepad. It would be a chance for another stab at multiplayer, specifically online multiplayer. Metroid Prime 2€™s multiplayer mode was mediocre at best, but Metroid Prime Hunters hit the nail on the head. I remember racking up hours with it friends over Wifi when it first came out. If Retro can be allowed to craft an brilliant single player campaign and multiplayer experience then it could end up being Nintendo€™s much needed hit in the online FPS space.
