5 Heavy Bands Who Sampled Popular Video Games

3. A Day To Remember - "2nd Sucks" Samples Mortal Kombat

Say what you will about the Ocala rock giants -and gatekeepers will across every alternative music forum on the known web- but they've achieved a level of success 99% of bands never will.

They did this by uniquely blending metalcore and pop punk with catchy riffs and angsty lyrics resonating with anyone who feels too big for their hometown. "2nd Sucks," however, was the group's attempt to venture into a more hardcore style of music.

The fifth track from What Separates You From Me opens with a line which signified to 90s and early 2000s gamers alike that the battle was on.

"Fight"

For anyone who has played a Mortal Kombat game this one line is the preamble to a bout to the death between any number of chosen characters. These battles feature every bit of the game's trademark blood, guts, violence, and of course epic gore filled death scenes designed to serve as the ultimate taunt towards your defeated adversary.

It simultaneously serves as a fitting sample for the Florida native's attempt to turn up their intensity as well as a fitting tribute to one of the most notable franchises in gaming history.
