5 Major Problems Rockstar Face With Red Dead Redemption 2
1. Red Dead What?
Perhaps the biggest problem Rockstar San Diego faces is raising awareness for the Red Dead brand as the western alternative to GTA.
This is undoubtedly why they chose to announce the game, complete with trailer, a full year before its release date. Rockstar are trying to get gamers on the hype train early, in an attempt to gain interest among more casual players. Whereas GTA has become a household name, Red Dead is still confided to those with an interest in gaming culture.
GTA’s popularity is unquestionable, with over 70 million copies of GTA V sold, making it one of the best selling games of all time. The original Red Dead Redemption on the other hand, sold only 12 million units.
This will be a tough task for Rockstar, who will need to pull out all the stops with their marketing campaign if they want to improve on the sales of the previous Red Dead to make the series into a popular mainstream product.
