Nineteen instalments. Yes, nineteen games in the main series of Legend of Zelda. That is a lot of Link. But clearly, it is not nearly enough. Shigeru Miyamoto's creation from 1986 is back again, and it looks more gorgeous and monumental than ever before.

Breath of the Wild was announced back in 2013, and has been relatively quiet since then. The game takes place in Hyrule, as expected, when Link is awoken from a 100-year slumber by a voice that eventually guides him to defeat Ganon (who's surprised?). The game world is about 12 times larger than the map in Twilight Princess, and comes out to an estimated 360 square kilometers (140 square miles). For reference, The Witcher 3 is about 136 square kilometers.

Gameplay is similar to the original, where players are essentially dropped into the map with little instruction or guidance and left to explore and discover on their own. Voice acting is present, but limited to specific characters like Zelda and the Great Deku Tree. It's also been announced by producer Eiji Aonuma that an alternate ending is possible if players accomplish certain tasks and fulfill certain requirements.

Based solely on the success of almost every other instalment in the Zelda series, Breath of the Wild is bound to live up to expectations and fulfill every hope and dream that fans of the series have.
