3. Acquiring Touch-Technology

The providence on touch-technology in today's day and age is surely on the uprise; while Apple, Samsung, and Microsoft triple their upgrades on touch-sensitive tech, others corporations search in the dark for a way to adapt the coveted tech into their own veins. Sony, improvising touch-technology on the PS3, has seen the light and sought to introduce the tech into their new controller scheme. The DualShock 4 controller features a touchpad directly at upper centre: almost mirroring that of a small, whimsical screen, the touchpad is Sony's first true head dive into the next generation. The new touchpad is a nifty new way for players to interact with the game world, switch between certain abilities, and navigate through maps. Killzone: Shadow Fall uses the touchpad to very effective use, allowing players to choose commands to OWL, a robotic companion used in-game. In Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, it's used as a means to navigate through the map, utilizing the zoom in-zoom to produce intricate results. With both games, the touchpad is superbly fast and responsive, allowing no lag or slowdown to compromise its outstanding performance. The current raves about the new DualShock 4 have been solely on how the touchpad responds and reacts. On launch, the response has been universal, but it's later on down the PS4's lifecycle where we'll see just how up to snuff the touchpad is.
