5 Reasons Why Games Should Not Be Like Films

2. Things That Are Cool in Movies Aren't Cool in Games (and vice versa!) Hollywood and now sadly gameywood still haven't figured this out yet. Things that are really awesome in films, like stunts, fights, shootouts, car chases and boobies are all cool because they feature real people doing things we can't. Like when Bruce Lee beats up 10 men, or Bruce Willis shoots 10 men, or Bruce Campbell cuts off his hand and replaces it with a chainsaw and kills 10 of his possessed friends. However, when a game character does something like that you go "meh, it's made up." The reason you feel less excited is because while it is just like a movie, unlike a movie the game character could have done anything. Like, absolutely anything. It could have killed 10 men by turning into a giant spider and eating their heads. Bruce Lee can't do that! Of course the same is true in reverse, the limitless potential for crazy shit in games does not translate well to film. Just look at Res Evil. In the game world we are ok with the fact that in the middle of a city under zombie siege there is a hot Asian woman in a red dress who knows a thing or two about kung fu. In a film, this is just so stupid you are afraid to even call it stupid because you are worried it is actually mentally disabled and you don't want to be politically incorrect.
