Okay, so the Google Yeti isn’t a game in itself per say, but perhaps above anything else, it has the capacity to completely alter how we as a gaming culture exist. The console, as yet going under the code name Yeti, is said to be the steed on which Google rides into the battlefield of the console wars against Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony. And the great battlecry heard across the world as they charge into the fray? Game Streaming Service.

Yes, the big news is that Google are pushing for the creation of their own game streaming service. Think Netflix but for games. A monthly subscription payment model, where gamers can select games from a catalogue and stream them to their device. The idea is one that’s been kicking around the industry for a while, with Sony’s own cloud video game streaming service Playstation Now having floundered around like a dying fish for a while back in 2017 before being shut down.

Google seem to think the idea still has its merits however, and the success of such a platform would revolutionise the way gamers consume games forever. Plus if anyone has the cash to make it fly, it's Google.

There are still some big problems to get over, like issues of lag and privacy dificulties that commonly come associated with online streaming. If Google’s plans come to fruition however, we could see video game discs as obsolete as DVDs in as little as a few years, and traditional gaming facing one of the biggest revolutions in its history.
