2. Lara Croft (Tomb Raider 2013)
In the 2013 reboot of Tomb Raider, developer Crystal Dynamics decided to make a more human Lara Croft. With that, they went back to the origins of her becoming a total badass, and created possibly the most grizzly ride for a human to take. Lara's ship is caught in a storm and she is marooned on an island that wouldn't be out of place in a Lost spin-off. She has to battle beasts and man to survive, before meeting up with her fellow survivors, who get picked off one by one. Along the way, Lara is forced to kill a man in an emotionally affecting scene that has her struggling with her humanity, undercut only by the fact that afterwards she doesn't seem to care a sausage about slinging an arrow in many a henchman's face. At the end of the thing, she has killed hundreds of people, and if she has to reflect on each and every murder, she might need to take some time off. This new and improved Lara Croft wouldn't take kindly to sitting on a beach, seeing as idyllic islands haven't been the greatest comfort to her. She needs somewhere totally opposite to that, somewhere snowy with the possibility to learn a skill that doesn't involve the total annihilation of man.
