5 Video Games That Did DLC Right (And 5 That Ripped You Off)
9. Right - Assassin's Creed: Syndicate
Frankly, it was tough to decide which Assassin's Creed game would make this list, as they have always delivered quality content for their flagship series DLC Packs. Assassin's Creed III's Tyranny of King Washington episodes and Assassin's Creed IV's Freedom Cry are easily top contenders.
However, it is the Jack The Ripper add-on from Assassin's Creed: Syndicate that outshines them all.
New tools and gameplay mechanics were introduced; ones that would have felt out of place in the base game. These factored into the use of the expansion's "fear" mechanic, which could be used to scare off enemies, working perfectly in this context, but certainly wouldn't have fit in the base game.
In addition, the atmosphere is built to absolute perfection, flawlessly capturing the feel of 1888 London during the Autumn of Terror. To compliment this, their are certain missions in which you play as the notorious serial killer himself, which provide their own disturbed feel in their own right. This DLC is the Assassin's Creed franchise's use of historical fiction at its absolute best, seamlessly weaving the two together to create a tale that is as captivating as it is unsettling.
Assassin's Creed: Syndicate is a very long, very full, very fun game all on its own, and Jack The Ripper only serves to give just that little bit extra to the experience.
