5 Video Games That Did DLC Right (And 5 That Ripped You Off)
8. Right - Grand Theft Auto IV
The exploits of Niko Bellic already made for a phenomenal story, however the expansion packs for GTA IV took it to a whole other level.
In The Lost and Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony, you take control of Johnny Klebitz and Luis Lopez, respectively. These are two characters who appear in certain points of Niko Bellic's story, and you get to learn first hand exactly how they play into everything. Johnny is a high ranking member of The Lost Motorcycle Club, who is promoted to leader early in the expansion, and Luis Lopez is the right the right hand man of eccentric night club owner, "Gay" Tony Prince.
The three respective stories run parallel to each other, each being their own thing, but cross over at certain points. Most notably one mission in particular, in which an illicit diamond deal at a museum gone terribly awry, can be played through the perspective of all three protagonists.
Each respective add-on has its own unique atmosphere, separate from that of the main game. Even though the tragic story of Niko Bellic was more than adequate, the two expansions make the game feel bigger than itself, making Liberty City feel like a place that is truly alive, for better or worse.
