5 Video Games The Media Always Get Wrong (And 5 That Could Change Their Minds)

3. Bully

Schoolyard violence ... a scene from Bully: Scholarship Edition.

Bully came under a lot of fire before it was even released, just because of the subject matter of being a kid in school, and the name of the little company that was developing it: Rockstar Games. It was predicted to be a Columbine simulator. Jack Thompson went rampant trying to get this game to never hit the shelves even though he had no plot synopsis, no rating for the game, only a few screenshots that he thought the near sight of by children would turn them into raging Hulk killers. In the end, Bully was released with a teen rating, which besides the likes of the Midnight Club series was rare for a Rockstar game. It was lighthearted, hilarious, and - in Rockstar tradition - very tongue in cheek. It has become a cult classic among gamers, and there is still a dedicated group wishing for a sequel (Which was recently hinted at by VP of Creativity at Rockstar, Dan Houser himself! Fingers crossed!). It may not have been the demonic hate generating monster Thompson hoped to destroy all over the news upon release, but this little interview on G4€™s Attack of the Show is worth a view. Keep in mind this was before Bully was released.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Q6kJ1xftIc
