5 Wild Directions The Call Of Duty Series Could (Theoretically) Take
4. A Pure "Old School" Shooter
This is the one solution that many gamers have wanted since forever. It could be WW2, it could be modern - doesn't matter much. Just removing the kill streaks would make the game that much more balanced and fair. Now imagine what some perk rebalancing and/or removal of some could do. Sure, leaving some of the more passive ones could be fair. Also, why not remove the entire Create-a-class system (or whatever it's called nowadays) and create some well rounded stock classes. The weapon and character modification would be limited to visual tweaks only, to leave the playing ground even. Also important, this entry could ditch the entire single player campaign to focus solely on multiplayer goodness. Who's to say that wouldn't work? From what I gather, the gaming world is ready for a new received Call of Duty game and it just might re-attract all the players that it has lost over the years. Not to mention that such a balanced and versatile game would probably do well on E-sports. With the universally accepted gameplay, I believe that the leaning option should also make a return, and not that lame thing implemented in Ghosts. That doesn't count. With the game marketed as a modern day equivalent to CoD 2, but without all the layers of unnecessary processing going under the hood (since most of the statistics stuff would just go away), it would look pretty good but have a solid frame rate even on older computers, thus appealing to even more people with not-so-gamey rigs to play on.
