3. A Slower, More Tactical Approach
Another thing that could be very compelling to see this series do is for it to take a more tactical, cover-based attitude. This iteration could play out similarly to the newest (taking the term loosely) games from the Rainbow Six franchise or the new Deus Ex game. Most of the game is played as usual, in first-person, but if you set a designated button beforehand, your character enters cover in third-person. Sure, a similar thing has been done by Brothers in Arms, but that series is clunky at best. The game could deal with smaller conflicts as well as with big ones, too. But since we want a slower, more methodical take on the series, it would be less about explosions and being a murder god and more about fast tactical takedowns and strategical thinking. This could also work pretty well in multiplayer, but with an extra perk (pun!). With the game focusing more on teamwork and less on sociopathic self-glorification, it could attract more mature audience. Sure, there would be the occasional lost twelve-year old yelling in the microphone what he had for breakfast (in German), but the tactical gameplay would be much more interesting to those who feel ready to invest more time in it. Since the action would be slower, again, all those weapon attachments would get more time to shine and bleed their statistics into the game in a nicer, more natural way, regarding gameplay pacing. Also, there could be more guns and stuff because there's never enough of those.
