25. Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots
Platforms: PlayStation 3
Release Date: 12 June, 2008 Guns of the Patriots acted as a direct sequel to the previous games to conclude the story arc of Solid Snake. The game continues with the core gameplay of other Metal Gear titles but brings in new camera modes and a psyche meter that can alter gameplay according to the conditions Snake has been subjected to. Despite a relatively confusing storyline the game was seen to conclude the series well and answer many of the questions that had been raised throughout previous games. Boasting quality visuals and one of the best soundtracks of any game released in the last decade, Guns of the Patriots was for many people the perfect Metal Gear Solid.
24. Trials HD
Platforms: Xbox 360
Release Date: 12 August, 2009 Puzzle racers like Trials HD have been very popular as browser games for a long time. However as internet games they lacked quality. RedLynx stepped in with their take on the genre and brought an accomplished and polished game. Trials HD evolved a simple concept around getting you and your motorbike to the finish line as quickly as possible while navigating a number of different obstacles. The quality of the game comes through the large amount of excellently designed levels, the refined controls and replayability that comes with trying beat your own score and top the leaderboards.
23. Crackdown
Platforms: Xbox 360
Release Date: 23 February, 2007 Crackdown took the open world sandbox formula and decided to do away with all the serious elements and instead focus on making the a game that is all about having fun. As an Agent you travel throughout the city (by either traversing across rooftops or in a collection of wondrously crazy vehicles) fighting enemies and completing selection of missions. As each Agent is imbued with superhuman powers the potential for mayhem is plentiful, buildings can be scaled in the blink of an eye and cars thrown at enemies located on the other side of town. The best thing about Crackdown though is that it showed how sandbox games could do multiplayer well, because there was much enjoyment to be had between a group of superheroes let loose in a city.
