50 Greatest Games Of This Generation

16. Uncharted 2

17 UnchartedPlatforms: PlayStation 3 Release Date: 19 October, 2008 For many people Uncharted 2 is not just one of the best games of this generation, it is one of the best games of all time. It combined everything into one glorious whole that showed exactly what games are capable of pulling off. Exciting action sequences, classy voice acting, deep and meaningful gameplay all combined to create an action adventure game that at times felt like a n=being in a movie rather than playing a game. Achieving near perfect critical acclaim and winning hundreds of GOTY awards, Uncharted 2 is a masterpiece that everyone should try.

15. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess

16 ZeldaPlatforms: Nintendo Wii Release Date: 8 December, 2006 Any list of best games from any generation would include a Legend of Zelda game. They have been a mainstay of Nintendo consoles since the NES and have always been widely acclaimed and commercially successful. Pretty big shoes to fill for Link€™s outing on the Nintendo Wii. Much like its predecessors, Twilight Princess sees the perennial hero taking on the evil Ganondorf in a quest to save Hyrule. Carrying over most of the features introduced in Ocarina of Time, the title also brings in the ability to traverse between an alternative universe and the option of transforming into a wolf. The action-adventure game proved to be hugely successful. Many felt it was the best Zelda yet and proved Nintendo still had the ability to create brilliant games without the hardware of its competitors. Cut scenes, visuals and quest design were all superb but nothing less is expected from a Zelda game.

14. The Witcher 2

15 Witcher 2Platforms: Xbox 360 Release Date: 17 April, 2012 The Witcher 2 took a fairly different approach to combat than its predecessor, focusing on a more difficult and faster paced system. This did draw some criticism from fans but the brilliance of this game is not in its combat but in the way it tells it story and immerses the player in a rich and detailed world. The game treats you as a mature adult throughout, whether it is in the difficulty of overcoming enemies or the tough moral choices, along their consequences, which you have to consider. The Witcher 2 is an epic adventure that delivers in almost every respect.
