6 Horror Gaming Soundtracks That Will Make You Shiver

3. Resident Evil

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIsiZQVSFfE We would not have horror games as we know them if Resident Evil had not exploded onto the scene in 1996. The classic tale of a viral outbreak that unleashed an army of undead atrocities and coined the term "survival horror" has become a staple of gaming, and the series has come to evolve beyond its roots, for better or for worse. My selection here is from Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, which came to us a year and a half after the second game sold enough copies in its opening weekend to rival ticket sales for Titanic. While RE2 takes place after the outbreak has already occurred, Nemesis drops us right into the thick of the zombie infestation. Low horns and strings accompany an underscored vocal part to illustrate the doomsday that Umbrella unleashed on an unsuspecting small town. Those of you longing for the days when Resident Evil was less about action and gunfights can take comfort in the music composed by Masami Ueda and Saori Maeda, remembering what it was like to explore a derelict town with a hulking superzombie, rocket launcher in hand, hot on your tail.

Adam Nystrom was Goichi Suda's inspiration for Travis Touchdown. A Yank obsessed with video games and professional wrestling, Adam rarely sees the sun, and when it attempts to seep through his windows he immediately starts to hiss and find a way to block it out. Adam is a former professional wrestling referee and semi-retired standup comic who has also produced a roast as well as appeared on at least one other.
