Here’s a two-for-one deal: Lady and Trish are familiar to fans of the Devil May Cry series as Dante’s faithful friends and companions, introduced in the second and third games. Fans were ecstatic to see them appear once again in Devil May Cry 5, though perhaps not at first as we all expected.

Playing through the first few chapters as Nero, the end of Mission: 03 finds us facing off against the most powerful boss yet. Artemis is a vaguely-feminine demon with a flying, bullet-hell moveset, who is born of the eponymous gun from the third game and, unfortunately for her, Lady. This is revealed upon defeating the boss, which frees Lady from the host and leaves her alive and otherwise unharmed, if nude and a little gooey.

Sadly, a similar fate also befalls Trish, who is transformed into the boss demon Cavaliere Angelo, which Dante encounters and defeats in a later mission. Not only is Trish also freed following the boss’ defeat, but Dante gets a sick motorcycle buzz-saw weapon out of the demon’s remains — neat!

Once both ladies are freed and revived, they rejoin the team, and are featured as your allies once again for the remainder of the game. Now where’s that Ladies Night DLC when we want it, eh, Capcom?
