6 Video Game Enemies Who Turned Into Allies

3. Letho - The Witcher 2: Assassins Of Kings & The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

One of the few witchers you meet throughout the series who isn’t from the School of the Wolf, Letho serves as one of The Witcher 2’s primary antagonists and stars in the opening cinematic that sets the tone for the entire game. Our favourite monster hunter is thwarted by this assassin multiple times throughout the game, from killing kings, abducting Triss, and beating Geralt himself to a snowy-haired pulp.

At the game’s climax, the player can choose to either kill Letho or spare him — as Geralt had once previously, saving his life.

If Letho is spared, and the player inputs their choices from the previous game before starting their playthrough of The Witcher 3, Letho appears once again as the subject of a side quest. If the right conditions are fulfilled, Letho can be recruited as an ally, and will join you and whatever other friends you have gathered at Kaer Morhen for the battle against the Wild Hunt.

The Witcher is a franchise positively bursting with morally grey characters, but Letho stands out as someone who abandons worldly ambitions and fights for the greater good when the chips are down. Thank goodness very few witchers are actually as impartial as they’re supposed to be.
